What is Heartburn?
Heartburn is a symptom of acid reflux. It is a feeling of burning pain in the lower chest that you might feel when the stomach juice refluxes into the esophagus. Although heartburn is usually caused by acid reflux, it must be differentiated from similar symptoms that could be due to heart disease or other problems. This is why it is important that patients with heartburn undergo a complete workup to determine the cause of their symptoms.
