Free Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED Classes Offered for Youth Babysitters This Summer
03.13.2026
Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will offer free Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED classes this spring for local youth who may be babysitting or caring for younger siblings during the summer months.
The training is designed for students ages 10–18 and provides essential lifesaving skills for responding to emergencies involving infants and children. The classes will help young caregivers recognize emergencies and take action until professional medical help arrives.
The program will run from May through June and includes six classes, with eight seats per class, allowing 48 youth participants to complete the training.
Each participant will receive course materials and training equipment as part of the class, including a Pediatric CPR and First Aid course book, a pocket mask, and an official American Heart Association eCard certification.
The training is free to participants thanks to a grant from the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation, supporting community education and youth safety.
“This training helps equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to respond during an emergency,” said Ben Sapp, chief development officer of the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation. “Many youths spend time caring for siblings or babysitting during the summer, and these skills can make a critical difference in a life-threatening situation.”
Registration is limited to participants ages 10-18, and attendees will be asked to confirm eligibility during registration.
