We Honor Veterans Program

One out of every four dying Americans is a veteran. Bridge Hospice is honoring these men and women through the “We Honor Veterans” program offered by The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

We Honor Veterans gives hospice organizations the tools to better understand and treat medical problems related to military service including challenges veterans face from illness, isolation or traumatic life experience. Through respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment, hospice organizations such as Bridge guide veterans and their families toward a peaceful ending.

Through this program, Bridge is providing veteran-centric education for staff and volunteers, learning to identify patients with military experience, building organizational capacity to provide quality care for veterans, and developing and strengthening relationships with VA medical centers and veteran organizations.
